Third Edition (2013) of the MHRA Style Guide
| The MHRA Style Guide is an essential reference for scholars, students, and editors in the Modern Humanities. Originally codified for our own use, MHRA style has since 1971 been used much more widely, and today many universities require dissertations to follow it. Warning notice. This third edition of the Style Guide is now out of date. The fourth edition (2024) simplifies and modernizes MHRA style, and has been revised throughout to be clearer and more explicit. We are keeping the texts of both editions online throughout 2024 for the benefit of publications part-way through editing, where it would be impractical to change styles mid-stream. However, all new MHRA books and journal articles should use the Fourth Edition, and from January 2025, the Third Edition will be withdrawn from the website entirely. Contents.
