The MHRA is pleased to announce that it is entering into partnership with Liverpool University Press, who will manage subscriptions to the MHRA’s journals from summer 2026. LUP specialises in supporting the work of academic not-for-profit publishers and, like the MHRA, has a long history of publishing scholarship in the humanities. Indeed, as the third-oldest University press in the British Isles, founded in 1899, LUP is almost the same age as the oldest journal involved in this partnership, MLR, which began in 1905.

New and recurring orders for the MHRA’s subscription journals, both print and online, and print subscriptions to the Annual Bibliography, will from July be handled by LUP. Subscription agents will be contacted with details in due course. Email subscriptions@mhra.org.uk for more information.

All told, the following titles will be handled by LUP:

That only leaves our Open Access electronic journal, Working Papers in the Humanities — this is unaffected, since it has no subscriptions.
