We can now announce Transcript 25, a study by Peiyu Yang on Triangular Translation: Gender and the Making of the Postcolonial World Between China, Europe, and the Middle East 1880-1940. This is one of five new titles being announced today in what has become a very dynamic series: the others are here, here, here, and here.

Can translation be triangular? It can certainly be prismatic, as volume 10 in this same series showed. (I suppose Toblerones manage both.) We are still coining the words for all that translation can do, and in this new book Peiyu Yang uses the conception of a triangle to describe how ideas from European colonies passed through Arabic translators in the Middle East and shaped developments in China.

Triangular Translation is due out in our Transcript series in 2022.
