Book coverWe are pleased to announce that on 10 February 2018 — just two days after Ruskin's 199th birthday — the Ruskin Society awarded its annual Book Prize to John Ruskin's Continental Tour 1835: The Written Records and Drawings, edited by Keith Hanley and Caroline S. Hull. This is an award with a wider remit than Ruskin alone, and encompasses not his whole circle: for example, the recent Penguin biography of J. M. W. Turner also appeared on the short-list, as did Aidan Nichols's magisterial study All Great Art is Praise: Art and Religion in John Ruskin, which Keith particularly asks me to mention. So we were pleased to be short-listed, but of course we're more pleased still to have won.

Our congratulations to Keith and Caroline. This seems the perfect moment to post our recent interview with Keith, which can be read here.
