Suttner's Lay Down Your Arms

We are pleased to announce a new edition of the English translation of Bertha von Suttner's bestselling pacifist novel Die Waffen nieder! (1889). Edited by Barbara Burns, Lay Down Your Arms will be published in 2018. Suttner won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905, and may indeed have been the person who persuaded Nobel that there should even be a Peace Prize. She deserves to be better-known today, but there's no doubt of her reach back then: Die Waffen nieder! had dozens of editions, and was translated into 12 languages.
