Launching Translating Myth
We are pleased to announce that the British Centre for Literary Translation, based at the University of East Anglia, will be holding a symposium and launch for our book Translating Myth on the afternoon of Wednesday 16 November. The event will run 2-5pm at Arts 01.02, and refreshments will be served.
Translating Myth, edited by Ben Pestell, Pietra Palazzolo and Leon Burnett, is a fascinatingly wide-ranging collection about the extraordinary ability of myths to migrate, through adaptation and translation, from one culture to another. Middle-Eastern motifs figure in Paradise Lost; or the tale of the golden apples is retold by college boy Eustace Bright, in Nathaniel Hawthorne's Wonder-Book; the Gorgon looks out at us from a painting by Edvard Munch.
