A series of MHRA Centenary Lectures has been going on throughout 2018, but it has also been a year of weather extremes, and back in the Spring we had to postpone Susan Bassnett's address because the University of Glasgow was closed by heavy snowfall.

We are happy to announce that the event has now been rescheduled for 4pm on Thursday 11 October. Professor Bassnett, the current President of the British Comparative Literature Association — our partners in the Studies in Comparative Literature book series — will speak on "Crossing Textual Thresholds: Why Translation Matters". The venue has also changed, and the lecture will now be in Glasgow's Western Infirmary Lecture Theatre. For a map, see the lecture's announcement page here.
