YWMLS Abbreviations Index: Volumes 66 to 70

This web page holds a consolidated list of abbreviations as used in volumes 66 to 70 of The Year's Work in Modern Language Studies, an annual critical bibliography of work done in Romance and Celtic, Germanic, and Slavonic studies published by the Modern Humanities Research Association. The abbreviations are compiled by the General Editor, Stephen Parkinson, and are also used as a standard set by other publications.

Abbreviations divide into Acta (Festschriften and other such volumes of papers) and General (journal names, publishers, long-running series, and so on).

This list is a historical record of abbreviations used in past volumes: many were for use only in their original volumes, and others have subsequently been withdrawn. For the abbreviations in force for current and future volumes, see the main website.
