Individual Membership
Graduates of any university, and persons of similar standing, who are engaged in academic research are eligible for membership of the Association, on application to the Honorary Secretary, subject to the approval of the Committee.
The annual subscription for individual members entitles the member to receive a year's subscription to one of the following titles: Modern Language Review, Slavonic and East European Review, Yearbook of English Studies, Portuguese Studies, Austrian Studies or Oxford German Studies, and the Annual Bulletin, with news of MHRA activities and List of Members, free of charge, with the option of subscribing to most of the Association's other publications at reduced rates.
Note: Individual members understand that any MHRA publications received either free of charge or at a reduced rate are exclusively for personal and private use and may not be sold, given away, or exchanged.
Full details of current member subscription rates are available from the Honorary Secretary, MHRA, to whom applications should be made.
[Individual subscriptions to the Association for membership and the purchase of its periodicals are exempt in full from British income tax, provided that membership is relevant to the member's office or employment. The position in the United States is substantially the same.]
Retired Membership
Retired membership is open to all retired scholars in the modern humanities, regardless of retirement age.
