Individual Membership

Individual Membership

Graduates of any university, and persons of similar standing, who are engaged in academic research are eligible for membership of the Association, on application to the Honorary Secretary, subject to the approval of the Committee.

NewThe current annual subscription for individual members entitles the member to receive, free of charge, the Annual Bulletin, with news of MHRA activities and List of Members, and access to the complete contents of the following titles on the JSTOR platform: The Modern Language Review, The Slavonic and East European Review, The Yearbook of English Studies, Portuguese Studies, Austrian Studies, and The Year's Work in Modern Language Studies.

Note: Individual members understand that any MHRA publications received either free of charge or at a reduced rate are exclusively for personal and private use and may not be sold, given away, or exchanged.

Full details of current member subscription rates are available from the Honorary Secretary, MHRA, to whom applications should be made.

[Individual subscriptions to the Association for membership and the purchase of its periodicals are exempt in full from British income tax, provided that membership is relevant to the member's office or employment. The position in the United States is substantially the same.]
